PRESCHOOL DEVELOPMENT
Building Bright Futures
Children seem to change overnight. From one day to the next, they can often go from stranger danger to being absolutely fascinated by other people and things. At the preschool age (3-5), they begin to learn essential skills for school and life! You may notice they want to learn! They'll show this by asking several questions about the world around them. You'll notice a fascination in nature and living things, whether it's expressed through a sudden rock collection, worm hunting, or flower picking. How can you support this natural curiosity? You can share their excitement about learning to encourage them and demonstrate that the desire to Know is Good. Remember, your child is a clean slate, so you have to teach them that yes, it is good to be curious. It is important to teach them to be curious and show them how to find the answers to their questions. This is why science is beautiful to the preschool mind. At any age, science is meant to answer the big question "why?" It is the perfect subject to help children think about how they can learn more. Science can develop critical problem solving skills, imagination, critical thinking, and it encourages self-expression. These are all tools that the preschool mind craves and can lead to a successful middle childhood!
